Loneliness, your silent whisper
Fills a river of tears through the night
Memory, you never let me cry
And you, you never said goodbye

Sometimes our tears blinded the love
We lost our dreams along the way
But I'd never thought you'd trade your soul to the fates
Never thought you'd leave me alone

Time through the rain has set me free
Sands of time will keep your memory
Love everlasting, fades away
Alive within your beatless heart

CYCLING AGAIN...

Fill in the blanks.

Went to east coast park (ecp) for cycling with __________ and __________, as usual.

The day was bright and sunny.

Had lunch at KFC, much to the pleasure of __________ and __________. ___________ seemed a bit sick.

As usual, alot of crap by __________ and __________.

Took 36 to ecp.

Reached there around 3:00 pm. Got bikes and enjoyed Nature's rays of light smothering us. As usual, __________ gave untold amounts of advice, like "keeping your hands straight", for the umteempth time i did not do so.

Learned how to raise my a** a bit back. While riding on the bike. Method provided by _________. Not too successful.

Alot of crap regarding all things under the sun by __________ and __________. Not me, i was busy concentrating on where my 2 wheels where going, mainly not in the way i wanted them to. Marvelled at __________ and __________'s ability to do stunts with the bike.

Cycled to both sides of ecp. Along the way back from Marina Bay i saw a hot __________, skin quite brown and dressed quite sexily, doing rollerblading. Well, the ah pek, the jogger, the guys that she passed by all thought the same. Guess the two hunks beside her thought the same too (arrgghh) So, i'm not _____ after all.

Best record so far: No ACCIDENTS!!!
Yeah. no falling down from the bike. Guess more awake today. Maybe except the part whereby __________ and __________ turned round at round at the jetty and i banged the lang gan. Well, i better bang the lang gan or else i'll be soaking wet.

Then went to McDonalds, where i was treated to more crap from __________ and __________, of which the contents i shall not publish it here because it's too lengthy and also because i've forgotten. Was quite good.

Left the bemost company of __________ and __________, circa 1800 hours.

Was a good day.

Went to friendster just now.

Added an army friend into the list, now at 146...

Checked out a few secondary school female classmates, i did. At random.

Lo and behold, very chio they were. Much more than i had ever seen. Guess the sands of time did wonders to the complexion... at least for now.

Another thing i saw: that most of them were surrounded by friends... guys and gals alike.. which reminded me of something sour in my memories.

most of them were single... was this true? maybe they forgot to update. maybe... anyway i'll stop my speculations.

makes me wonder what i've been doing all along...

paradise??

maybe. lets go to uni and find out.

Takeshi's Castle

Have u ever heard of this gameshow which was very popular in japan. Its about this stupid general dressed in Napoleon style combat dress (with fake cutlass) and a bunch of 100-200 volunteers or what that he employs to "storm" this ancient Japanese castle owned by this japanese lord called Lord Takeshi (bad guy).

The gameshow has 10 stages, and each stage they make it such that some dudes are eliminated, like falling into mud pools (and die), or falling into a rope bridge, or getting tagged by Takeshi's henchmen in some stupid maze with helluva doors (and they're considered dead). Before each stage they show Takeshi with his advisor in traditional Japanese dress talking cock about how the volunteers are gonna "die" and how brillant they are, and doing some other japanese stuff like reading poetry (?) and doing some stuff with the fan and dancing Noh. Quite amusing, in fact.

Then the last round would be whatever survivors of the previous 9 rounds plus the general who led them engaged with Lord Takeshi's Elite Guard (and himself), who would be mounted on dodgem-like cars with lasers or water guns that they use to hit some spot on the enemy cars, hence rendering it "dead". Basically everyone will be given a personal interview, (i.e. name, which part of japan, job, hobby, etc etc) then they get on the dodgems and slug it out.

In all the episodes that i've seen, the good guys never won before... cos the prize money is 1million yen or wad... anyways the good guy general will like "i'll try again next time with more volunteers!!"
and the show ends.

Why do i think of this suddenly.... its like all the reality shows nowadays, like survivor, amazing race, etc, all lack this kind of fun and creativity, i guess. Whatever u see, it's quite predictable. And we just watch at how other people get themselves into deep shit, bitch about the task, etc etc. That's not how a gameshow should be like... i think it should be pure fun, getting real slimy / with hell lot of foam / sauce / soap or whatever (not the "brown sauce" gameshow, that's ultimately lame).

here's one to the japs for creating this great gameshow.

YET Another Day In Paradise

Went out with Leo and WS. Again. Didn't cycle as planned, but went to the Temple at Bugis area to give thanks for Leo, prob for his entry into Med. For peace i prayed. Then after that we began our sojourn to Orchard road, along the way stopping at many departmental stores for them to purchase clothing.

Reason for purchase: Leo spilled McDonalds' Chilli Sauce With Garlic and Pepper over his shirt and pants. But, while he was looking at pants all over today, he didn't buy any (what the hell)
Second reason: the dawn of the Great Singapore Sale.

Talked about going to watch Madagascar, but Leo refrained from doing so... well the lion is cute...

So, after we went to Orchard, i think dunno why WS or something wanted to check out the stuff at City hall, so we went there... after having dinner at Centrepoint, that is. Finally bought his shirt.

Wondered what i would wear to uni next time. Probably jeans, i thought. Was thinking that bermudas and 3/4 pants would offer too much... cleavage??? to the student sitting in the row below.

"...that student in the 15th row, 8th from the aisle, please keep your underwear under wraps..."

anyway it will be cold in the LT. maybe not outside.
so for the upper torso i plan the Zhou Jie Lun windbreaker (yeah, the one similarly worn by Red Riding Hood) with a singlet or a light shirt underneath. good no?

wear slippers (if i stay in hostel).

mp3 player on the left side, attached to belt. with the HP, it completes my mobile computer - media and files storage, listening to mp3, organiser, sound recorder, radio. etc etc.

Leo also received his Matriculation Package (which came with a Booklet about NUS, another Booklet detailing the Camps that we can enrol, and lotsa other misc stuff) and showed it to us. Checked it out - there was no Pharmacy camp. Neither was there a camp from the Original Music Society (OMS). Guess they're dead, for the time being. Looked at some of them, am still considering whether to crash other people's camps.

ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

--> DJ Play music: Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins

Went to play pool with WS, Leo and Shunji in the afternoon. As usual, i sucked... i suspect the balls but the truth is, it's just me - relying on other people to bag the 8 ball prematurely to win, for example.

Then we walked around the streets of Orchard, and we settled down to dinner at our favourite joint, the Burger King outside Borders. (Ok, i had only $10 left so that was the only viable option).

Rushed back to clementi to give tuition (FOC!!!) at the Student Advisory Centre. In spite of my previous companions' suggestions about "slapping" the students... i had quite a good time with them (not from slapping them though). Reminds me of the times i was in sec 1 - innocent, docile, and.... stupid. Well, so much for the good old days.

Came back circa 2120 (hours). Wanted to play GTA Vice City but no, i think i'm getting stuck on the missions already. Wanted to do something about some song a friend gave me since i got my synthesizer back, but no inspiration. Can't seem to have any inspiration these days.

And leonard can u please stop your "gimme some". And stop your Call of Duty games cos it's not doing anything towards your CCC. At this rate, we're gonna give ya "anti-f**k therapy" come near Aug 1! Is that clear!

Tomorrow i'm gonna cycle with Leo and WS again. I hope my cyclophobia is gone.

REVENGE OF THE SITH

Watched Star Wars Episode III with Leo and WS today. Was great, except for one part of the Star Wars series - the lightsabers. Didn't mind the weeeeennnng sounds, but the sight of coloured streams of light flashing across the characters at breakneck speed was something too much for me, an epileptic, to bear. So hence most of the Obi-Wan vs. Anakin scenes were cut off.

Was a Star Wars geek yesterday, and a fan today. So this is the true Force of the movie: the part of it that hooks so many people over a generation. And it is unexplainable, as the Force goes.

Had a real good time with WS and Leonard today, always cracking jokes about the movie, and... many other good topics. Oh, went broke today: from $30 to $2 also. Partly because i brought a handphone cover for $10 - i hope it's good - $8 for the movie, $4 for some tea at Coffee Club (?), $2.50 for ice lemon tea, $4 for dinner. Money goes out like a candle nowadays. Oh yeah don't forget the $1 spent at the arcade playing some stupid drum machine (which actually, i thought i performed quite well).

Met a nice-looking (ok lar) sales promoter (aka Prud*ntial insurance seller in disguise), one of the rare moments that i bothered to stop and hang along with them. I mean, usually, no matter how chio the chiobu offering me the survey, i wun stop, but this time, i dunno... maybe i was in a good mood.
Anyway the conversation turned quite well. Didn't ask for her no. though (damn.)

Broke off from Leo and WS after dinner, went to Melvin's to reclaim my synthesizer. Pretty heavy at 16kg, yet delicate and fragile. Hopefully i can write some music from now on.

To all souls who are troubled, recite the Serenity Prayer... :)

INTO WORK... AND OUT

Finally, i landed myself a job, as a money-changer cum remittance assistant in some gold smith shop. That was ORD + 1wk.
First, i had the misfortune of being taken ill during the second day - flu set in, along with stomach aches and diarrhoea the next few days. I found out that the enthusiasm that i had in the army about finding a job was... unneeded, as i grew tired on the 3rd day itself.
The job was... quite simple, giving that the boss could tell me what my duties are in the first day - money changing, remittance, and odds' and ends like faxing documents (referred in the army as sai kang). Nothing very brainy. In fact, the job was darn boring. If there were no customers, you just had to sit there like a wood block and stare at the commuters flipping past the shop (and the very occasional chiobu). No talking with colleagues (there were none), no reading of personal material.
How drab.
So, by the fourth day i was contemplating about resigning. Some record. Oh yeah, the stomach ache that i had to bear during that period made it worse. Imagining just waiting there with mush in your intestines.... urghhh!!!!
Well, so i quit. The job lasted one week. The pay: $175 for 4 days work.

Well, there's so much breathing space now. I can sleep any time i want, have a night life (i used to go to sleep immediately after i came back from work) and still have another job.

And no, i'm in no hurry to work right now. Still wanna swim, read up on uni stuff, play other people's comps (like leonard and wang's, who just upgraded their comps) and hopefully, exercise.

ORD +2 days

Went to Wang's house today... spent the first two-and-a-half hours watching him curse and swear over his attempt to re-format his windows xp computer, which kena virus. Though everything was working ok, he seemed adamant to remove the bug, probably due to his perfectionist attitude and the fact that it was barely a month old when it kena virus.

played GTA Vice City after that, yeah! Completed the 100 hidden packages, by right there is a Hunter helicopter which can shoot missiles in some military base. Quite dizzy after playing, though.
Completed 5 out of 7 calls to parents, damn nervous man. This moment i'm this sweet-talking guy who tries his best to speak clear concise English, the next moment i'm swearing the most unspoken words on earth.

PEARL's HILL BUILDING

am now at pearl's hill burger king. was initially planned to interview at 1:00pm at SGH, but yi ping postponed it to 1:30,so i have some time to kill and a lunch to owe myself, so herei am.
been here before, but only the first floor of this building, sodecided to explore it further. went to the lift, and found outthere were 10 floors, of only 4 were accessible by escalators.crowd: mostly middle-aged people and elderly...men.
The reason for this was to be known soon. First floor: mainly shops selling clothes, hps, other merchandise. Interesting thingto note: there was a porn shop (!!!) selling stuff that wouldprobably equate it to condomania in orchard. it wasn't open though otherwise i would be intrigued to have a glance at their "merchandise". Interesting. For the curious folk, it is aroundthe centre. Dunno its opening times though. There are also cinema boards, though god knows where the cinema in this area is.Mostly showing R21 films; was quite the first time i saw a billboard featuring these films.
Second and third floor: interior was something like coronation plaza. yeah that Coronation plaza in bukit timah.only the contents of the shop weren't that... innocent.mostly made up f "reflexology" and "massage" shops, as advertised by their signboards. And with coy ladies sitting outside, theirpseudo-svelte figures partly covered by the sliding doors. Icounted probably 10-12 of these shops, some of the decorated withJapanese curtains (but it said Thai massage), some just had asliding door.
What was so alarming about these curios was that the lady outsideeach of these shops (and i mean every one) called out to me, this20-year old guy in their taiwanese and chinese accents, "shuaige, ni yao an mo ma???" ("handsome, you want a massage?")

UUURRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

God knows what horrors await behind those sliding doors. Something like the Honey Bee Inn in FF7? Slinked back to theburger king for lunch instead.

ORD LOH...

Woke up at 0900 today. The sun was shining and my head was dizzy, but whatever, it was ORD Date for me!!! YAY!!!
Collected the curry puffs i intended to treat the crew later and my clearance cert. Went to Mandai Hill Camp, reached at about 1015. Not many people there. Went up to buy Dad's New Balance sneakers and a pair of Army sandals. Hmm, if i'm residing in hostel, i would probably need these - no one's gonna steal the smelly thing anyway.
Done shopping, went back to Medical centre and put stuff. Went up to CCO Office (= S1 branch). There they did the rest of the clearance cert for me and for the first time in two years I saw my pink IC. And laughed at my 12 yrs old picture. It would be hard to imagine anyone else deriving more pleasure by just looking at a piece of pink plastic.
And then they stuck a sticker over some part of my 11B, that now read: Status: NSmen. This card is to be used in conjunction with the IC. Oooohhhhh.
That's all about it i remember, after that we had some ORD function in the mess where all the rest like me gathered for some free food. From SFI, of course. Then they presented me with some souvenir (photoframe, keychain, pen) and that was that. Smiles galore.

I feel so old now, man. NSmen.
Seems so old, reminds me of those 35-and-above dudes that pop in every now and then for medical checkups. Dudes with disgruntled faces and bright green uniforms with velcro name tags and old-fashioned boots. *sighs*

To all the dudes still inside Tempat Larangan, please perservere...

THE DAY BEFORE I ORD

Came to work at 0800, considered late for a working day... Went and had breakfast by my own, then slinked back to the medical centre. Read newspapers, written all over it was the demise of former president Wee Kim Wee. Though i never experienced firsthand his kindness, the overwhelming evidence that he was as nice as what they say in the papers is hard to dispute.
Met CPT (Dr) Tan again for the second day, gave him his SAF 100. In return, he gave me.... more sai kang by asking me to go CCO office, 4 storeys up, to get his reservist booklet stamped. No choice, anyway i was in the mood. Went up. Tried to get people to sign clearance form but to no avail. Reminded that i have to come back for ORD function, shucks.
Went back, talked more cock with Stanley and Yongjian, realised that they too showed interest in C&C: Generals, Zero Hour. Quite a classic, other than DOTA, which everyone else seems to be actively playing. Yongjian was off for the afternoon so I went for lunch together with Dennis and Jonathan from 1 SIR. Lunch was good, it was Western. Last SFI meal.
Came down. Leong asked me to help him with the packing of blood tubes for collection by the "blood man". Today was a busy day for him: about 20? 40? guys from came to medical centre to give blood for . Plus, the shorthanded situation at the reception table meant i had to help out... all on the last day. Also created a form for the new MO, one of the last miracles that i could perform for the dudes.
All in all, came four o' clock and a damn shagged version of myself was left. Went quietly to medic room (lounge) to sleep. Interrupted twice, damn. Woke up at 5pm with a severe headache, asked 2IC Roger to go off early. Went back to sleep, till 9pm.

LABOURLESS DAY

Went for Labour Day family dinner today at IMM... got sick of it halfway... reason? i don't know myself. Maybe got out on the wrong side of bed, as they say. Wanted to meet Hans for swimming in the afternoon, but my back still hurts. Will see the camp doctor on Tues: polyclinic doctors suck.

Schedule for next week:
Monday: ?
Tuesday and Wednesday: go back to camp and pay final respects (i.e. do clearance). Get email and contacts of colleagues. Tuesday: call up bank (as mum spotted in the Classified) and ask for job, then if it's screwed up, contact the jewellery shop and tell them, yeah i'm your man. Will be reporting to work on next Monday.
Thursday: Run-out date at last!!! For some reason there is no mania to accompany this event... just a feeling of moving on. To what, i suppose?
Friday: Go to SGH and commence second round of interview. Dunno whether to resume the job... mum just offered a suggestion to keep both options open.

Finally The Date, as it was fondly remembered, has arrived. While old problems have been left more or less buried, new problems surface. The cut-off of income has is turning my coffers inside out = need to look for a job. Not easy on that, either. Been despairing... hope next time, it won't be so hard to find a job given a degree. 'therwise I'm screwed BT.

Another thing... seems like endorphins are much more hard to squeeze through. Sometimes i wonder what will make me truly happy. A nice meal? a trip? something that i achieve? a song that i play? something obscene to laugh? a mind-boggling game? etc.

am watching Ice Age now. damn cute. some of the things that raise a laugh... subconsciously.

guess i need that special someone. just for a talk?
