Loneliness, your silent whisper
Fills a river of tears through the night
Memory, you never let me cry
And you, you never said goodbye

Sometimes our tears blinded the love
We lost our dreams along the way
But I'd never thought you'd trade your soul to the fates
Never thought you'd leave me alone

Time through the rain has set me free
Sands of time will keep your memory
Love everlasting, fades away
Alive within your beatless heart

What a long day

Yesterday was a looooooong day. Woke up at 3am to mug for Anatomy Test, in a ruse which i call the "Final Countdown". Sadly, it didn't work. Managed to mug for 1+ hours before i got too tired by 6am. Amazingly i still managed to catch some of HTF's lecture by 8am, though i was prone to dozing off like Chun Han who was sitting next to me.

And then... 10am. The anatomy test. Mercifully, the true/false qns were relatively straightforward, not like the PPDA test (u really have to rack your brains for that one!) . Answered 75 out of 75 questions, felt like leaving some blanks due to negative marking but what the heck, just do it...

The rest of the day proceeded, well... nothing much to mention about... prof ho's lecture was damn interesting that day sia.. haha... new mr bean.

came back to hall around 1815 hours, had dinner, then watched FF7 Advent Children!!! Amazing. though, i shall save these comments for another post cos it will be too lengthy.

interviews for hall committees. tried for short film (2), motion graphics (3), cultural management board (1) and voluntary corps (4) in that order. Numbers in brackets denote the priority i assigned to these committees. Think i stand a possibly high chance of getting into short film and cultural management board (yes, cos i knew the interviewers, cheat!)

At 2330 went for choir auditions. Decided, since i couldn't get into hall's acapella and geyao and didn't go for band auditions (and i can't join dance and theatre for obvious reasons), next step of choice was to go for choir. Amazingly i got in as.. not bass but... tenor?!?!

To sum up all the commitments:

1) NUS geyao - every friday night

2) NUS Electronic Music Lab - every saturday morning, as well as tuesday night and wednesday night

3) Short Film (?) - ???

4) Cultural Management Board (?) - ?????

5) Choir - tuesday and thursday nights (subject to change)

Back to school... again

Today was the first day of the period after Mid-Term Break... i'm just ahead of schedule by returning to hall at 1650 when i should have done so at 1830, so i'll blog awhile.

0700. Woke up, felt like i'm being dragged from dreamland. Bathed. Brushed teeth. Put on hair gel for the first time in NUS. Pity though, it didn't work cos i just dabbed a little. Haha... Went down for breakfast with the Malaysian scholars plus constance. Set off pretty early, around 0740, which was remarkable, to avoid being niaoed by Ho ting fei.

0800. Ho ting fei (HTF, hoo the f***???) 's lecture on Respiratory Physiology. Boring as usual. next.

1000. Lab test. Screwed up pretty bad, identified only one group outta two. Did all the other tests but were negative - i got nitro, which was pretty easy to deduce cos it was yellow and weakly acidic... and the other one i couldn't prove it was a ketone!!! arrgghhh. Did the 2,4 DNPH test FIVE times, 4 in methanol and 1 in aqueous. stil can't get.
alcohol? no. can't oxidise. neither can i do esterification.
acid? no. failed NaHCO3 test.
phenol? no. failed FeCl3 test (well maybe, i only did it once).
amine? no. failed 5% HCl solubility test.
conjugate salt of a amine? no, failed aqueous solubility test.
then i was thinking, last thing is carbonyl, but no aldehyde, cos can't oxidise... muz be ketone.

as a result: got screwed up observations and results and conclusions that doesn't seem to make sense at all.

casualties: dropped a test-tube into water bath, broke a test-tube, stained a test tube.

1200. Lunch with junice, farveez, niron, jing wen, and (oops forgot to ask her name!!! omg). Sat down and talked about alotsa stuff, but the stuff on sri lanka politics was particularly striking... by farveez.

1320. went to LT, sat with the guys while waiting for prof Ho to come along. most of the gals did their tutorial 2, whereas the guys were talking cock, surfing net.. (ok the gals were quite active with their laptops too...) then soon at around 1430 a card game begin between alvin and zhi wei and 2 gals... thing was, the gals started it... omg!!! hardcore cardsharpers.

~1500. junice came along and announced that prof ho would be extending his hols. which was good kinda for us, now that i can type this shit and most of the class can go home 1 hr earlier.
Prof Chui came and then started Tutorial 2, which was a mess!! for me. realised that my previous attempts on the tutorial was quite lacklustre as compared to Yi Jiang's, who was sitting next to me... haha which means i'm in deep shit for these topics. Heavy annotations accompanied my answers, together with big red crosses. And i dunno how those dudes managed to find such answers about how sp2 is more electronegative than sp3 becos of s-orbital being more spherical and blah.

1615. released from tutorial. went back to hall, typing this shit.

1715. sleep till god knows when. probably dinner time.

In your dreams, then...

More songs by REO Speedwagon...

There was a time some time ago
When every sunrise meant a sunny day, oh a sunny day
But now when the morning light shines in
It only disturbs the dreamland where I lay, oh where I lay
I used to thank the lord when I’d wake
For life and love and the golden sky above me
But now I pray the stars will go on shinin’, you see in my dreams you love me

Daybreak is a joyful time
Just listen to the songbird harmonies, oh the harmonies
But I wish the dawn would never come
I wish there was silence in the trees, oh the trees
If only I could stay asleep, at least I could pretend you’re thinkin’ of me
’cause nighttime is the one time I am happy, you see in my dreams

Chorus:We climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us, we are lost in time
And I don’t know really what it means
All I know is that you love me, in my dreams

I love this song... reminds me of so many things and events and people that i wanted to do, meet etc. But never got the chance to. Sighz~~

Cos i can't fight this feeling animore.... =(

Hi,
was listening to this song by REO Speedwagon (huh?! huh?! dun worry, probably we weren't born when the song came out)

I can’t fight this feeling any longer
And yet I’m still afraid to let it flow
What started out as friendship, has grown stronger
I only wish I had the strength to let it show

I tell myself that I can’t hold out forever
I said there is no reason for my fear
Cause I feel so secure when we’re together
You give my life direction, you make everything so clear

*And even as I wanderI’m keeping you in sight
You’re a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter’s night
And I’m getting closer than I ever thought I might

**And I can’t fight this feeling anymore
I’ve forgotten what I started fighting for
It’s time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars, forever
Cause I can’t fight this feeling anymore
I’ve forgotten what I started fighting for
And if I have to crawl upon the floor
Come crashing through your door
Baby, I can’t fight this feeling anymore

My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you
I’ve been running round in circles in my mind
And it always seems that I’m following you, girl
Cause you take me to the places that alone I’d never find

Repeat *, **

Haiz. reflects the feelings that i'm going through.... dot dot dot.

(Anyone wants the mp3 look for mi)

My Computer Is Ill

Hai... so sien.
1), my computer is starting to lag for no apparent reason. First it started with Microsoft Word, it acted funny. then it lagged when it was started up; was thinking, ok, going by the darn NUS screen that has to pop up every time, it should lag. And the numerous applications that line the bottom right of the screen. Most of them i dun use.

2). Supposed to go for a block gathering at someone guy's house but i pang sehed them... giving lame reasons like (1). Was thinking, maybe i'd spend more useful time trying to fix this goddamn comp.

3) Comp's heating up, damn fast. Just two hours and the table top's getting VERY hot. put my handphone next to the source of heat, and after 15min it gets heated up. Very efficient heat transfer or simply bcos there's too much heat.

4) Finally finished typing the notes for my Anatomy revision. Haven't printed yet, i guess i could finish blogging just in time as the 4 Word documents are printed out. All the latin terms haven't really found their way into my brain yet, which is severely worrying cos i have only 8 days left, including Saturday and Sunday. and all the pharmacists are chao muggers. defeat is certain...

Haiz.. really need a break. Ironic.

Mid Term Break

Woo... Time Passes So Fast When You Enter University. there should be a song about that, i guess. I look at the calendar. i came to uni on the first of Aug. Now is the 4th week of Sep. About 7-8 weeks only.

Then mid term break liao, then everyone panics cos you know what happens after that HUGE break. When a city is under siege for days on end and suddenly there is a huge calm, everyone panics and looks at the horizon (sorry that was from Kingdom of Heaven).

Yes. It is the EXAMS. or rather, the CA. but for most of my subjects this is the first CA that i'm gonna take (except for PR1101), so i'm pretty head over heels about it.
Will i be able to 'qie' my fellow Pharmacy students over this?? Everyone seems so sleepy in class... but will they all be Crouching Tigers, Hidden Dragons??

Everyone in class seems so... "eager to attend class and getta out of there asap" attitude. Exactly 3.52 secs after the lecturer utters her last word, the first gal disappears between the double doors that lead outside of the LT.
Can't even talk cock with them after class (except, maybe my OG and some 'on' ppl, that includes the GUYS), can't talk cock with them during class, and i'm always late, so can't talk cock with them before class.

On Friday Jevin organised a bbq, attendance rate was 20% (ok) for the guys and 3% (...) for the gals. How to know gals like that, even if there are a freaking 100 of them..?? Work is the main topic in Yahoo Groups, and the hottest topic is "how to use pcmodel?" and "re: re: re: re: nomenclature exercise".

Dunno. I'm gonna use this four days in hall to MUG like hell, so i can be on par with these people. Hopefully that will prevent me from being left out in the 1% percentile of the class.

P.S. failed geyao audition for SH, :(

Lame song name: i tried to study for my test but i failed

there was a guy
who had a test on monday
he tried to start early
but ended up starting on sunday
when asked why
he didn't give an answer
he just shrugged his shoulders
and said in his forlorn voice

dude, i tried to study for my test but i failed
it was a sunday night and my eyes were nailed
to the telly...
oh what the helly.

Tri-Fac Bash

Man, china black is gotta be one of the smallest places i've ever been. and one with crazy bouncers.

the dance floor is so darn small... you can't sit on anything except the high stools (which are about 20 for a bash of 200-300 people).

so practically we were standing there, being blasted away by loud music. can't hear what the hell the next guy is talking. met Wacky Waiseng, Laughing Leonard, Ecstatic Edwin and we tried to talk but all i could see was the intermittent light shining on their (bored) faces. Although i think WS did a good job on the dance floor previously with his (sexually) exciting moves, i was more interested in the female dancers.

anyway, saw alot of nice guys chatting up nice gals and my morale drooped. so went to drown sorrows in drink. haha. not really, but taking advantage of the housepour ($3!) is one thing.

to cut all the crap: some reasons why the TFB sucked.

1) i lost my complimentary drink to the house. some drink on the house it was. put the drink on some table, went to buy some other drinks for the gals, then came back and realised that it had poofed. little did i know that the bouncer evacuated the table full of pharm people and swiped the drink cos no one bothered to claim it...... (F............!!!!)

2) cannot sit on the nice couches. which is why the staff evacuated the tables on which the pharm people sat on. can't sit anywhere then. wtf??? then where do we sit, sia. had t hold my drink everwhere i go, like shit like that.

3) dance floor is jam-packed. 200 people into a space measuring max 25 sq meters. see already, also dun want to dance. people was being packed inside like sardines.

4) lost my goodie bag. heard it contained some nice condoms. whatever it was for, i didn't find out that day..

went home at about 2245 hours.

wow its been a month (blows), the dust has accumulated to an inch high. haha.

a month (and six days) i have been in nus. let me summarise the bare facts:

1) modules: have been taking 5 mods:
- PR1101: physicochemical properties of drug action (PPDA). very interesting chemistry, but the lecturer is siao on one. just had the first CA today. Third prac today too, the most amount of QA tests i've ever seen in my whole life. got sick after breathing too much aromatic fumes.

- PR 1102: physical pharmacy. DAMN BORING, its like physics and chemistry combined together, the parts of both are those i dun wanna see since JC. the formula list is crazy. and i dunno wad the hell the HK lecturer is talking about (he's a nice guy, but i dun really know what he's talking about). no test yet, that's fine. prac is damn easy, but its graded, so must do swee swee. which i haven't done yet.

- AY1104: anatomy. basically i dunno why they put this into the curriculum, its like they go through briefly what are all the main parts of the body, w/o as much detail as the med people (of course), and they go through DAMN fast. The first few lab lessons were fun, touching cadavers and seeing microscope slides and going into the anatomy museum where all the exhibits are located. But got sick after a while, just wanna get out of there asap and go to the sci canteen for western food. Steak. haha. nothing in the anatomy hall is tested, btw.
oh yeah, last week we started wearing lab coats. finally could identify people by their nametags (which was impossible during the other 2 modules' lab sessions).

- PY 1105: physiology I. interesting. but most of them i've read before during army days, so it felt like a revision. we've done NM (neuromuscular), blood and now we're at the heart (CV, cardiovascular), next up is
respiratory, then we'll wrap up. Bad news: the matronly lecturer teaching CV and Resp has a severely bad attitiude, i call her Master Warrant ___. no talking in lectures. wtf. even badder news: she's gonna take us for up to 11 lectures!!! omg this two topics are screwed.

- GEK 1534: microbes and their effect on man (or whatever). quite fun learning this topic, it is aimed at the general public, so content wise not that much. talked about microbes, black death, aids, antibiotics, everything under the microscope that causes / prevents disease. think i may decide to pon future lectures as they kinda get boring... and we are supposed to do a project presentation on some topic like SARS or whatever shit. so listen for wad.

tired already. guess the points 2) onwards will save for laters.

ciao.
